If you suspect that he’s having a stroke, follow these FAST steps.

FAST stands for Face, Arms, Speech, and Time.

Face, ask him to smile and check to see if one side of their face droops.

Arms, have the patient to raise both arms, do they have trouble keeping one of them up?

Speech, ask him to repeat a simple phrase, and listen to see if his speech is slurred or strange sounding.

Time, this is critical, you need to call 9-1-1 immediately if you suspect a stroke.
