Somewhere along the line, people develop this idea that if they lose sleep over the week, they can just make it up over the weekend.

Unfortunately, it does not work this way.

The body has energy needs like a battery.

If a battery does not get enough time on the charger, it doesn’t last as long until it needs to be recharged.

You can’t just charge it extra over the week to make up for it because the lost usefulness will have already happened.

The same thing operates for your mind.  If you don’t recharge properly, you become sluggish and don’t think nearly as well.
